This gives me the horn… (sorry).

Designer Matt Richmond brings us this stylishly antique take on the iPhone dock.
With acoustic amplification only (none of that fussy, electronic stuff), it's a fantastically quirky juxtaposition of ancient and modern. He'll flog you one for about $200, (apparently).

Smart Vinyl

Simple really, Smart Vinyl from Hu2 Design have created a range of funky stickers for the home (or office) that can be applied directly to a wall, or any flat, clean surface that add a bit of personality and fun.
The designs are great, often humorous (I LOVE the toilet monster), and you can even have your own picture 'posterized' and made into a sticker. As they say on their website, let the pictures do the talking!

Font of the Week – and it's FREE!

I've been a bit lax on my "Font of the Week" feature, but here's a real cracker to make up for it… and you can also download it for free from FontFabric.

It's called VAL, and it's designed by… well, I can't actually see who the designer is, which is a shame, cos I like to give credit where it's due, but nice work fella, whoever you are!

VAL's a great, fat'n'funky face, and there's some great examples of how it can be used below.
Check out the FontFabric site for more freebies, and a rather nice tutorial on making a multicoloured text effect.

The talented Ms. Hische

I've written about the fantastic Daily Drop Cap before, and recently (re)posted her article on how to draw a letter A, but I've dug a little bit deeper and there's even more to the multi-talented Jessica Hische. Her website is an absolute delight, as with all her work charmingly designed, with a beautifully retro 'crafted' feel to it. Designer, Illustrator and Typographer, her typeface Buttermilk is worth checking out.
